Contemporary Design - Midland, Michigan

Midland has been blessed with a series of architects who have designed and built over 250 residential homes in Midland.  From the curb these architectural gems showcase several distinct characteristics, including but not limited to flat roofs, rectangular footprints, and cinder block exterior walls.  Some feature a very red exterior door.  From the inside these homes are built with large windows to capture the natural light.  A few of these homes literally will have a full wall of windows.

Most of these homes were built by architects with names like Warner, Schwartz, Hallet, Phillips, and the most well known, A.B. Dow.  The contemporary blueprint has not been limited to residential use only.  Large community buildings, schools, and churches throughout Midland enjoy this unique and attractive origin.  One of the most prominent is the Midland Center for the Arts.
